"Great Views!"

Without a doubt the city views from some of the apartments in Auchenflower are to die for. Finished a great photoshoot yesterday afternoon. If you are feeling peckish and want to try a cool restaurant then go the Deer Duck Bistro 396 Milton Rd Auchenflower!

As the owner of Ray White Toowong I don't mind a coffee, The Ugly Mug on Ridley Street is well worth a visit.

"Aesthetic Auchenflower"

Auchenflower is one of Brisbane's most popular suburbs for many reasons. Firstly, it's only 3 train stations away from the CBD, walking distance to the famous XXXX Brewery, Suncorp Stadium and Park Road, Milton. It's also close enough to Brisbane's second CBD, Toowong, and St Lucia's University of Queensland. Boutique shopping is unavoidable at neighbouring Paddington and the closest grocery stores are located at trendy Roma Street entertainment development - The Barracks, Paddington and Toowong.

One of the most interesting stories about Brisbane is the story of the mysterious, murderous, Mayne family and their Auchenflower home, "Moorlands" which happens to be located on the grounds of Queensland's largest private hospital, The Wesley.

Some of Brisbane's prettiest streets are located in hilly Auchenflower with gorgeous character homes and immaculately groomed gardens. The riverfront is more densely populated with many highrise unit blocks taking advantage of the river and city views. Auchenflower is very popular with most demographics and property prices and rental demand are always strong.

"Close to CBD and very convenient."

I've lived in Auchenflower for the past 8 years after relocating from Sydney. I like the area for its close proximity to the CBD and its convenient access to all points north and south. It has a good bus service and a train station (just 3 stops to Central!) If you love cafes and cinema, then it is very handy for those aspects of life, too. Paddo, Rosalie, Barrack and Park Street are all nearby. It's also close to Mt Coo-tha park so if you ever need peace and tranquillity to ponder the meaning of life, then a 2 minute drive will get you there (or you can walk). The Wesley hospital also provides a reassuring presence. One downside is the preponderance of massive four-wheel drives, typically driven by well-heeled housewives (with their poodles). They hog parking spots, bully you on the road and are a general nuisance. Some parts of the suburb aren't particularly quiet as there are a lot of rentals peopled by students and other assorted young folks, who love nothing more than to party on weekends and on weeknights after exams. Milton and Toowong have great offleash dog parks.

"Little Known Gem"

Auchenflower is often overlooked as the excellent suburb that it is. With it's cute as cottages and Queenslanders placed beautifully on steep hills and it's famous nosheries, it's a little known gem. Stand alone house here account for well over half the accommodation types in the neighborhood, and this impacts on the largely family feel to this suburb, even though it's only about 3 kilometres to the city centre. There are the trendier areas of the suburb such as Milton Rd, etc, but there's also the local hang outs that make it such a hidden favourite with Brisbane locals. It has all the necessities, childcare, shops, transport. It's also got some excellent views and a great vibe. Go Auchenflower!
