""Great place to live, like a village and very community spirited"."

There would be only one negative I could think of with living in Bethanga, and that is that you must have your own transport to live there. There is no public transport.

The positives are a well stocked general store, a post office, a hotel (that serves great meals), and a craft shop (selling locally made goods). There is a local Police station, CFA and a CERT team for medical emergencies.

Bethanga also has a Memorial Hall well utilised by local groups such as CWA for meetings and functions and is also used to hold weekly exercise classes for over 50's. There is a playground next to the store in the village and there is also a recreation reserve in the town. Currently soccer, cricket and tennis are played regularly there. It also hosts an annual gymkhana, and an annual bike meeting.

There is a good primary school in Bethanga and secondary schools in Wodonga and Tallangatta are where the students go on to, by bus. There is a good kindergarten in nearby Bellbridge where children can enrol. The neighbouring town of Talgarno has childminding facilities.

At present Bethanga is purely on tank water, so no chemicals in your drinking water ! Add that to the pure crisp fresh air and the neverending views in this beautiful valley and you will start to understand why this is such a lovely place to live. The people are friendly, neighbourly in the true sense of the word. There are many local groups working for the betterment of Bethanga and newcomers are welcomed with open arms. What better way to get to know your new community.

Medical facilities and practitioners are in Wodonga and Albury which are only 15-20 minutes away, and so too is all the shopping you could want.

Bethanga was a thriving gold mining town in years gone by and is steeped in history. There are walks etc to old mining sites around the town and signage to give you information. The hotel has a large collection of old photos hanging that will take you back in history.
