"Lived here a few years"

We bought a house here 4 years ago. We have enjoyed living here even though we work in the city and travel everyday. There are heaps of shops close by including west fields strathpine, chermside and north lakes within easy driving distance. Heaps of supermarkets. We have good neighbours surrounding us except for 1 house next to us who are on welfare. Most people here are hard workers and look after their homes.
Eating out means a trip to the city, restaurants are KFC McDonald's and hungry jacks are your only choices around here... Lots of nice parks, short drive to the lake samsonvale and shorncliffe.
Pros
  • Rail
  • Shops
  • Parks
  • Close to Sunshine Coast
Cons
  • Some welfare types but they are on way out

"Happy Living in Bray Park"

I’ve lived in Bray Park (Eastern end) for 7 years now and love it. You have everything you need close at hand without feeling closed in, plenty of parks and room to move and good access to the city via car or a train.
I have no concerns for the safety for me or my family and never have had reason to call the police but like anywhere using good judgment on where you walk late at night is common sense given all the parks and walkways.
I have found most people decent and ready to give hello and wave, some of my immediate neighbours have become close friends and even neighbours that we just say hi to in passing had brought food around or offered help to me and the kids when my wife was hospitalised for a short period.
Overall we did a lot of research on the area before we moved here to start a family and I have not regretted our decision or been tempted to move even though my work has been based in Yatala, Browns Plains and Archerfield.

"Brooks Road"

We bought here 5 years ago & have always found this area to be safe & quiet - all the neighbours around us are friendly & the Primary & High Schools are just a short walk away - perfect for young families starting out. And yes, we've seen koalas in the park also at the end of our street.

"Thoroughly check out the area before you buy"

I rented in Tasman St for a few years and I wouldn't recommend it (noisy, lots of rough characters living in the street, lots of drunk people walking home from the tavern and servo causing mayhem, I had to actually call the police a few times due to property damage). Friends couldn't leave their cars out on the street when staying over as they would end up having number plates removed or being damaged in some way. The other street to look out for is Baker Street as I often walked through there and there seemed to be some troublesome residents in that area too. Some areas of Bray Park are lovely and peaceful - it just depends on the area and I would strongly recommend that any home buyers survey the area thoroughly before buying (you can tell a lot about an area if you check it out at different times of the day, check the streets for litter and broken bottles, graffiti, broken fences/letterboxes, broken down cars, unkept yards). Bray Park is one of those areas where one street can be lovely and the next can be horrible (and don't let the newness of the houses fool you either). I just wanted to share this with possible buyers so they can make an informed decision.
Pros
  • Good Schools
Cons
  • Rough area - lots of drunks/druggies and vandalism

"Reasonably priced area"

Bray Park is a reasonably affluent suburb nearby to the CBD and only an hour or so drive to the sunny coast. Great parks to kick the footy around or have a BBQ.

Can still buy a home at a reasonable price in Bray Park.

"Great place to live - close to everything ie. transport, all major chains of stores within 10kms, koalas etc."

Leafy suburb, cheap housing compared to neighbouring suburbs you can get a newer house for heaps less, koalas in your backyard, plenty of parks/recreation areas, all the shops you need (coles, Woolies, bunnings, target, big w etc.) within 5kms, train station and buses. Lots of good schools too, private and public.

"Close to everything"

Living in Bray Park means access to lots of parks, walkways/bikeways and a short walk to shops and tavern. Lots of trees and big backyards, close to schools, the North Pine River and Lake Samsonvale. Only a half hour train ride to the Brisbane CBD, half an hour to the beaches at Redcliffe and Shorncliffe, and a short drive from state forest and rural Dayboro and Samford. A day up at Mt Mee state forest is 40 minutes away. It is a great place to raise kids!

"Everything at your doorstep"

We lived in Bray Park (off Sovereign Ave) for 15 years and loved it. We had 2 train stations within walking distance to us, shopping centres and the local club all within walking distance as well. No need to worry about driving if we wanted a night out. There are also day care centres, primary and secondary schools all within walking distance if they are what you require. We had the best neighbours you could hope for. We totally recommend the Bray Park area. THe only reason we moved was because of my husbands business.
