"A great place to live."

I have lived in Bridgewater for 31 years, Like all places it has it good points and bad. But the god points far out way the bad. I live in a very quiet street, and have the most beautiful views. It's also a great place to get into the property market as you can still buy a house at a resonable price.

"Fairly rough area"

Bridgewater is fairly rough but still isn't the worst suburb in Tasmania. If you don't mind it a little rough and can defend yourself there is a tight neighborhood community.
Pros
  • Great investment area
  • affordable housing
Cons
  • Very rough
  • High welfare uptake

"Mix of the bad and the ugly"

Make no mistake, Bridgewater is filled with some good people, but it's certainly not a place that you could walk around by yourself of the night time, it's an adequate place to live while you're dreaming of living somewhere else, it's in a handy location as far as close to town goes but you would be better of buying somewhere else that's for sure.
Cons
  • Loads of centrelink customers

"Bridgewater - Be careful"

Bridgewater is a lovely little enclave which is suitable for any bogan families moving here (interstate). All bogan amenities are available with easy reach including: dealers, stolen goods, burn out areas for doughnuts etc. Hopefully soon someone will put a fence around this place and make people have visa's to get in/out etc.
Cons
  • Loads of centrelink customers
  • small percentage of deadbeats who unfortunately are more noticeable than the nice people.
tamara_bester
tamara_bester unfortunately you must be one of the bogans.

ScottK1 I wanted to buy in bridgewater but was way under the weight limit , had to many teeth and don't own flanny pjs so couldn't go to the shops un noticed...To be fair it is a gr8 place to invest and the bogan content is reducing with the Govt selling a lot of their stocks in the area

"Open spaces and conveniences abound."

I purchased my home 11 years ago because Bridgewater had more facilities available for seniors than any other suburb. We have never regretted our choice. Beside the river with clean air, open spaces with walking tracks, library, PCYC gym with low costs, and 2 supermarkets as well as other shops, public transport. Anything we need is only a short stroll from our front gate

Cons
