Having said that, living in Cairns is awesome. It's such a beautiful place and the people are so friendly. And no winter! I would never go back to Sydney. It's a completely different world up here. SO much better.

I grew up in Sydney and have lived in Cairns for 7 years. I thought I knew what heat and humidity were until I moved up here and realised I didn't have a clue. The heat and humidity in summer are relentless and there are no southerly changes like there are in Sydney. The humidity can be unbearable at times. Trust me, Sydneysiders don't know what humidity is.

Tom Tyndall Quite agree. I grew up in Sydney and Port Macquarie and can say that the humidity in Cairns takes a while to get use to. However, the winters make up for the humidity- in fact there really is no winter when compared to Sydney.
