Is the Champion Lakes recreation area for public use or just sporting?

Google maps shows lots of green space and the 'lake' but what can you do there?

Champion Lakes recreation area is managed by Venues West WA. I would recommend you ring them to find out more, sorry can't be of greater help :)

Champion Lakes (that is the lake, not the suburb!) was built for use in rowing regattas, so there are a couple of sporting assns like the WA Canoe Assn and it holds official events like rowing regatta competitions. But, it is open to the public and you can swim in the lake there - it has sandy beach areas and is huge (and deep to accomodate the boats). Obviously that isn't when events are on because of the danger - check the websites. There are also BBQ spots and grass for picnics, and a pathway for walking and cycling. It has only been a few years since it was developed so it is still quite open and 'hot' but the trees will eventually grow and it will be a great recreational area. There are big power lines nearby and they are quite obvious, but in time it could all look quite natural.
