"Great Place to live - easy access to City - good neighbours"

Deer Park has a lot of potential factors to become the good place to live.

We had a lot of young couple with kids in the area. They are friendly and good.
We can go to the city via Western Freeway for about 18mins (calculate a few time with Tom Tom navigation) and less traffic. You can live closer to Melbourne but it will take more time to go to the city CBD than Deer Park.
you want to go to the beach ? How does 15mins to Altona beach sound ?
Schools are good and they have a lot of education facilities as well as big play ground.
Shopping are built continuously. They keep develop all the shopping centres / stores which is needed in place.
Pros
  • Quite place and good neibourghs
  • good community group
  • Potential for growth
  • Price is good to sell with due to proximity to the city.
Cons
  • Shopping Center

"Great Place to live"

Deer Park is the new area, a peaceful place to live. It close to Western Freeway which takes you 25 mins to the city. If you are shopping lover, you can go to HighPoint and DFO Essendon. They are about 20min from Deer Park without any traffic.
In Summer, I can go to Altona beach which is just 15 mins away.
That's all what I need, quiet place, so many parks, childcare, gym & fitness, easy access to Western Freeway.
Of course, this suburb need more entertainment facilities like coffee shops, restaurants, a shopping center.
But for a family, this place is great.
Pros
  • Newer estate is good.
  • Potential for growth
  • Price is good to sell with due to proximity to the city.
Cons
  • Shopping Center
  • Need cafes, restaurants and entertainment facilities
  • Nothing to do. Boring.

"That old neighbourhood feel"

I have lived in Deer Park almost 4 years and grew up in the western suburbs. The proximity to the city is great, 20-25 mins going by the Ring Road, Ballarat Road or Calder Hwy. Its also an easy jumping point to Ballarat and Geelong being so close to Western and Princess Hwys.

In the old Deer Park neighbourhood around Millbank Drive the Kororoit Creek bike/walking track is a great place to walk and is well maintained with playgrounds, seats and footbridges. The house blocks are bigger and houses are the well made old brick style and some streets have cute old weatherboard houses perfect for doing up. I walk my dog around and there are always friendly people to chat too and many retirees at home during the day giving it a safe and old style neighbourhood feel. My neighbours on both sides take turns bringing my bins in!

The shopping is easy, within a stones throw you have Brimbank Central, Cairnlea shopping Centre, and Ballarat Road strip shops. Within 10- 15mins drive you have Su

tk2 Still here. There is a great new dog park on Davitt Drive, its fully enclosed so the dogs can run round around away from the children at the playground. There is another larger playground at Isabella Williams Reserve with many slides and cool new age equipment. There are toilets, picnic tables and shelters, BBQ and outdoor gym equipment.
Brimbank Shopping Centre has had another extension with the addition of a new food court, large Coles and speciality shops.

The Ballarat Road shopping strip is still and issue although a new Malay restaurant opened a while ago and is always full. Can someone please open a cool coffee shop with great pastry and coffee that is kid friendly with an outdoor space, you would make a mint!!!! Mothers groups have no where to meet and eat and there is no where decent with a great atmosphere...still have to go to Yarraville. The shopping strip needs some good shops that will bring people to the area.

The old school site on the corner of Ballarat and Station Road is letting the suburb down. The awful grungy appearance of this site should be dealt with by the council immediately. If the building is heritage listed could they at least protect it and move on with developing this site into a park or community garden with café, something rather than a vacant block with a big cyclone fence around it.

Still a great affordable place to live.

"Average suburb. More potential for growth."

I have been living here in past 6 months, not a bad suburb. Close to the city; takes less than 1/2hr to get there by train or car.

Downside is, hard to find good restaurants and cafes around. The shopping strip along Ballarat Rd needs some attention. Sort of boring shops. Also lack of entertainment and recreational facilities.

Not many large trees beside streets, it is good to have some trees to avoid scorching heat in the summer.
If the council and the community recognise deficiencies and develop the area, there will capital growth for sure.

"HEAPS OF SHOPS + TRANSPORT+FRIENDLY NEIGHBORS"

Very happy with Deer Park, nice neighbors on my street. Kunat St & Leila St & Quin Estate are the premium areas of the suburb

I have 2 IGA and 2 Coles supermarkets with 700meters of my house.

Takes me only 15min to get to the city from the by-pass.

People look after there homes and development is happening in the area.

New bunnings is been built now.

Still affordable but not for too long
Pros
  • The quinn estate is the best pocket, big newer homes
  • Kunat and Leila st are my favourite streets some beautiful homes there

"Never Again!"

Lived there for 7 years, worst place I've lived in. At night its common to hear sirens, on my street there were three drug busts, a lot of junkies live there and you do not feel safe 'just going for a walk'. They've extended Deer Park apparently the newer part is okay, seems nice. But cross those rail lines towards the old Deer Park and it just feels horrible. Hoons everywhere.
Pros
  • Newer estate is good.
  • Price is good to sell with due to proximity to the city.
Cons
  • Nothing to do. Boring.

"An evolving suburb"

Since expanding to beyond the railway line, Deer Park has become home to a multitude of diverse residents. There are numerous parks scattered throughout along with schools, doctors and grocery stores. The centralised railway line makes getting around easy, however if you choose to drive you will find the new bypass provides a 15 minute commute to the city with minimal traffic. Deer Park also has a sense of community rarely seen today.

"Great place for families and tradies!"

I have lived in Deer Park for over 15 years, it is an area that has a huge amount of services, it provides schools, kindergartens and various medical centres.
It has the lowest crime rate in the Brimbank district and has a great family atmosphere.
Property prices and rents has continually risen and houses sell on average with a fortnight.
Give Deer Park a shot!!

RB07 A great suburb. probably one of the most promising in the west. so close to the city and has all the facilities. only draw back is the train. Once the Met comes to deer park, the land prices will go through the roof, not that its cheap now
