Oceanlily Dundas has been a nice area that has not been paid enough attention. In fact, in comparison to the nearby suburbs, such as Ryde, West Ryde, Melrose Park, Carlingford and Epping, Dundas has been undervalued. Why will you pay so much more money to live in a very old property that needs extensive refurbishment, still so far away from the city (in case of Epping and Carlingford), and suffering from noises and overcrowding (especially in Ryde, Top Ryde and West Ryde) in an unstable living environment (with so many overseas students moving in and out all the time)?

As Dundas is so close to Eastwood (for shopping) closer to the city than Epping and Carlingford and close to numerous schools, private schools and selective schools but still near parks with fresher air and more quiet environment, it will have a great potential to grow in value in the near future.

Government housing is existing in all suburbs in Australia. Australia is a fair country. Look at Kirribilli near the Harbour Bridge, there are also well known high rise residential apartment buildings overlooking the harbour. They have been there for decades. That does not effect the high demand of properties in that area and the property price is still high.

In fact, Dundas is a suburb that is so much better than what people have imagined. It is not a big suburb but it has all the potential to develop.

Dundas will be one of the most popular suburbs in Sydney in a very near future. Don't hesitate and move into the suburb straight away.

"Sydney's best kept secret"

I can't tell you about the quiet tree lined streets, or the close proximity to schools, comminuty centres, libraries, healthcare & bus stops. Furthermore I can't tell you about how central this place is because then you will want to live here too.. and then it will be impossible for me to buy a house in the area.
In all seriousness, if you stay away from the ghetto of housing commision on the 'other side of the tracks' and stay on the carlingford side, its like another suburb completly. beautiful.

"Love the area, nice established streets & friendly neighbours"

Once away from the telopea shops by more than a block or two, it becomes like most middle class suburbs Clean & Leafy with friendly people saying hi when you walk past.

The only down side to the shops is one of the two chemist issues the Methodone for the recovering drug addicts. I have never had a problem but they can make my wife nervous when they are hanging round waiting.

The rest of the time it is a great place to live and over the last 2yrs there has been a decent shift in property values and is attracting young families, the area is on the way up and still has big size blocks for resonable money.

In 5yrs you wont know this suburb.

"Dundas"

Dundas is a family orientated neighbourhood perfect for young couples, families and the elderly. It is located around 15 minutes north east of Parramatta and about 5 minutes from Eastwood and 15 minutes from Macquarie Centre.

It has plenty of parks and leafy quiet streets. The area is safe and neighbours are friendly. In the evenings, the streets and parks are frequented by people going for a stroll and walking their dogs.

Transport is mainly serviced by Bus 545 which connects passengers from Parramatta to Chatswood. Dundas is also serviced by trains on the Carlingford line, but it comes every 30 minutes and all passengers must change at Clyde.

There is a small supermarket and some small take away restaurants, as well as good primary schools. The fact it is so close to Eastwood is that it is great for Asian families who prefer ethnic groceries.

There are small pockets of housing commission in the area and it is quite evident which buildings are government housing, by the state of the buildings. They are however surrounded by middle income families and nice stand alone houses.

Although there is a fair income disparity between residents, it is peaceful, clean and safe place to live. The night life is non existent, but amenities such as schools and parks are numerous.

In terms of capital growth, it has remained relatively steady, rising perhaps 25 to 30% over the course of the last 10 years. Experts say the market prices in the area are volatile, but if you are in for the long haul you will come out with money in your pocket.

"A nice and quiet neighbourhood"

Dundas is a suburb in the western suburbs of Sydney and about fifteen minutes northeast from the commercial centre of Parramatta. It has a mix of middle-income families and government housing estates that flows from the Telopea end of town so the mix in income standards is quite varied. A train station on the Carlingford line services Dundas itself and everybody has to change trains at Clyde, if they use the service, before they connect with a train to the city.

The houses in Dundas are quite nice and are at the southern tip of the belt of middle income suburbs like Carlingford, Beecroft, etc. There is not that much to do in Dundas apart from a few clubs and pubs so it is more a residential area that has plenty of parks and quiet streets. The local public school has opportunity class placements, which makes it a popular area for Asian families.
