"Leafy East Lindfield"

We are British born new Australians and bought our home in East Lindfield after renting in Roseville. Although we had said we were open to living anywhere from Chatswood to Wahroonga , I'd longed to live in East Lindfield from the first moment I visited. It reminded me of a village in the UK- with it's beautiful old houses, leafy avenues, and village green and shops. People greet each other in the street and the shops are a great meeting hub, a highlight being the cafe which sells great coffee and has a wonderfully tempting menu. Other shops include a butcher, baker, green grocer, chemist and general store, all within an easy walk ( although there is plenty of parking if you need it). East Lindfield is 2 kilometres from the railway, which has so far saved it from the developers wrecking ball - in the time we have been here we have seen countless beautiful old buildings in neighbouring Roseville, Lindfield and Killara demolished to make way for apartment blocks. Although it is a 20 minute walk to the station, regular buses run to the stations, to Chatswood and to the city. I hear good reports of the local primary school and the doctors surgery is excellent. Although there is no nightlife, Chatswood and the city are within easy reach. Chatswood is also excellent for shopping- Chatswood Chase being, in my opinion, one of the best suburban malls I have ever visited. There is nothing I don't like about living in East Lindfield - if you want a peaceful suburb close to all the amenities, it cannot be beaten.
Pros
  • Peaceful
  • Good local shops
  • Close to amenities
Cons
  • You have to like gum trees!
  • The possums rule - Net your veggie plot.
  • Trades charge like wounded bull when they see your address.
