Nice and quiet suburb hidden away. There's no through traffic with all people driving around tend to be locals. Great transport hub and close enough to the city.

"Peaceful, leafy, quiet, yet close to the city"

This suburb has come a long way with a major upgrade to the train station, as well as the soon-to-be-completed Ferny Grove tavern. I personally like Ferny Grove due to its proximity to the train station, the quiet, leafy streets, and generally large house blocks of around 700-800 sqm (compared to the inner city of only 400 sqm). You are literally at the very outskirts of Brisbane, yet only a 30 minute train ride from the CBD. Due to the suburb's geographical location at the base of the hills, it will never get built out, and should remain a nice quiet suburb with no through traffic for many years to come.

You got peace and quiet, friendly neighbours and a sense of community all located near great transport hubs. Definitly a place for familys and retirees.....not one for party people.

"Back for a Second Time"

We built in Glenfern Estate 15 years ago, were transferred away, and have now returned to build again. It is a beautiful area, boasting close promixity to shops, schools, transport and the city but still has a rural atmosphere surrounded by parks and trees. It would be hard to look past this area for a more peaceful place to live.

"A quiet, green undiscovered secret"

We moved to Upper Kedron about 18 months ago. We love it. We feel like we live amongst the trees but with all of the advantages of modern suburbia. The parks and gardens are excellent and its very quiet and friendly. We love the fact that it's so close to the city and inner suburbs but houses are fairly new and low maintenance. There is a wonderful reserve for our kids with excellent playground equipment and dogs are well catered for with 2 large off-leash areas within easy walking or driving. While Upper Kedron has no shops of its own, there is a very convenient small shopping centre with a Coles just 5 minutes drive away, or a larger shopping centre at Keperra, 10 minutes away. In short we think it's one of the best little secrets on the north side of Brisbane!

"Lived in Upper Kedron for 2 years now and will probably never leave. Love it...."

Great for families with excellent schools, parks, bike tracks, etc. close to great shops, transport. Just far enough away from Pubs and Clubs to be convenient but does not affect our lifestyle. Great Location.

"A new great investor suburb... tipped to be a winner."

Great suburb for raising your family here. Located within walking distance are schools, shops, cycleways, and fantastic parklands and picnic areas.

Get it now while you can, most of the houses in upper kedron are on big block sizes...
theres loads of new developments happening here and is tipped to be a wealthy future suburb.

debc5
debc5 Not sure what criteria stans is basing that on. Have lived in FG for 6 years now...there is a handful of public housing near the state school but its hardly the projects... No crime issues for us at all. A police station close by...on the edge of great mountainbiking trails, good local schools (which my kids safely walk to), small shops and train station all walkable distance. Samford road, like all arterial roads, does carry some traffic in the morning, especially around mitchelton. The only downer for me is that it might be too quiet...except for the lovely birds. Highly recommend for famillies and those wanting to commute by train to the CBD. Bordered by brisbane forest park.

josephb3 Having lived in Ferny Grove for more than 25 years, I can categorically state that it is not rough. In fact bogans would be few and far between. I think I saw one in 1998.

josephb3 Like much of Brisbane, road congestion in the workday mornings is getting worse. Samford Rd inbound is very slow with traffic banked up to Mitchelton High School. The Arbor St entrance can be a pain due to frequent train crossings and having to wait for the boom gates to rise. Tolerable inconveniences though.

"The greatest place in the world"

When I first moved to Upper Kedron I was worried I had made the wrong choice. Oh how wrong I have been proven time and time again What a great place to live. The "Kiralee Gardens" estate would have to be the best place by far. With bigger bocks wider streets and some fantatic parks how could you go wrong raising your family here. Located within walking distance are schools, shops, cycleways, and fantastic parklands and picnic areas. Just a short drive away is Keperra shops locally known as "Bedrock" with an absolute abundance of shopping to be had with more in the pipeline.

Our neighbourrs are great and the kids love to platy in the quiet streets. We will never leave here we love it.

"Great for families with pets"

We have lived here for over 7 years now. Our teenagers have had easy access to public transport - they are young and fit enough to walk to the FG Train Station - about a 20 minute walk and a 5 minute drive. Our youngest has great parks to kick a ball in - the Upper Kedron Playscape is amazing. Then there is the off-leash dog park which is an easy walk. If you are ever in the need for company 5pm is happy hour with about 10 to 20 dogs arriving and playing happily together while their owners chat and the kids climb the trees. It's just great! The local shops are 5 minutes away and there are two schools in walking distance. Surrounding the suburb are hills of green trees. Mornings and evenings are lovely with bird calls and many regular local walkers to say hi to. It really is one of Brisbane's best kept secrets - so don't tell every-one!!

"Close to Everything"

Ferny Grove is on the northern suburbs of Brisbane. It's far enough away from the city to feel peaceful and yet close enough to commute or indulge in some retail therapy. The local high school is known as a school of excellence in the performing arts and offers the students some excellent opportunities. There are some beautiful walking trails around the suburb and it's a short drive to the lovely township of Samford where you can take a picnic lunch. Ferny Grove has shopping and entertainment facilities including a tennis complex and some cute specialty shops. If you're looking for a place to live close to the city but without the hustle and bustle, this is for you.
