"The Entertainment Precint"

The Valley aka The Entertainment Precint is famous for its nightlife offering great food, live music, bars, clubs and so much more... And on the weekends during the day there are Arts & Crafts Markets along Brunswick Street offering hand made products , fashion clothing, live band and so much more. Lifestyle at its best.

The Valley has an extensive amount of entertainment from restaurants to nightclubs and bars. Make sure if you visit to check it out and go to China town where some of the best food can be had at great prices!

"Good Food in ChinaTown > Fortitude Valley"

There is no better place to get some good asian food but in Chinatown Fortitude Valley so many restaurants to choose from yum cha, a la carte & buffet its your choice!

The restaurants around here come from different backgrounds of cuisine so some may have the same menu but have a different style of cooking and taste each are tasty and unique.

If you have a favourite restaurant in chinatown we would love to hear you recommendations :)

"Will you take me to... Funky Town....?"

Fortitude Valley is a razor edge kind of place. Insanely, almost migraine-inducingly cool, it has a seedy heart to it at times. By day, hip designers sell overpriced products to EMO's and grown ups who should know better. Excellent restaurants vie for attention amongst organic beauty outlets and dingy cafes. By night, a rock scene comes alive and the streets swell with the youth and the youthful of the brissy music scene. Staples of the Valley include Fatboys/Riks cafe and the Empire Hotel. Just make sure that if you're picking a fight with a trannie named Marcia, because she cut in front of you at the taxi line, that she's shorter than you. Or you can run faster than shim. (The names of the innocent have been changed, or completely fabricated to give you an idea of what the Valley can be like at night.)

jamesr11 Are you kidding, brothels and strip clubs are the heart of the Valley. Walk around late at night on your own at your own peril! Undesirable place after dark. Dingy and ugly by day.

"Fortitude Valley could be called 'little China' as this is the strong cultural area of the Chinese community in Brisbane."

All Australian cities seem to have a Chinatown and in Brisbane, Fortitude Valley is the place. The Valley is really only 5 mins drive from Brisbane centre, so it is easy to get to and the younger, more alternative generation often see this as a place to go.

The main street of Fortitude Valley has been made into a Mall and has a very Chinese decor.

Although it is the Chinese centre of Brisbane, it also has many other nationalities selling food and other products. It really has become more Asian, rather than Chinese now.

It is not an area that would be recommended for wandering around on your own at night, and regardless care should be taken when travelling in the area.

There are many night time activities that are carried on which leaves one feeling a little unsafe.

I am a middle aged woman who has owned an apartment and lived in the Valley with my teenage daughter since 2007 and we both regularly walk home at night etc and never once have we felt uncomfortable or unsafe. Does Clickwriter actually live in the area? If so, I think shes being a little paranoid.
