"The Peanut Capital of Australia"

They call this place the Peanut Capital and yes it probably still is but over the years Peanuts have been very hard to grow out here due to drought and other conditions not so favorable to growing peanuts. Located some 200 km NW of Brisbane Kingaroy is the largest town in the South Burnett.

Of interest in the area is the Bunya Mountains National Park, nearly always cool even in the hottest of weather. If you're into Parrots this is the place to go. Although if lunching out in the open up here one needs to watch out for the Kookaburras, they have a tendency to steal food right out of your hand and there bills are razor sharp, not very nice when you are trying to have a picnic.

The local farms are a sight to behold in a good year the variety of colours is unreal. There are a number of activities one can take part in around Kingaroy, there's gem fields, water skiing, bird watching, gliding, wine tasting etc.

"Peace and quiet - a nice "tree change""

Kingaroy has all you might need for services, and if you want the trip to a larger township, it doesn't take long to get there. Easy access to Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba, yet right next to the Bunya mountains and rainforest. Good 4-wheel driving and friendly people
