"Moulden, some great places."

Moulden can be broken into 2 parts, South Moulden and North Moulden. North Moulden is walking distance to Palmerston High School, sports facilities and swimming pool. South Moulden has many housing commission and is further from essential services. In North Moulden, many of the housing commission homes has been sold off. I purchased an investment property recently (May 2017). ROI is better than surrounding suburbs. I lived in it while I renovated, neighbours were nice, had many privately own properties around me. The housing commission house in our street was quiet. The park nearby was family friendly. I left my car unlocked and my house unlocked most of the time and never got broken into. I do not have a dog. However, neighbors Dogs did bark at night. I was previously in Fannie Bay and found it noisier than Moulden with itinerants, hoons and touts door knocking. The blocks are big and parks well maintained. The public facilities such as swimming pools, tennis courts and High School are new.

"Worst place to live!"

I lived most of my life in Moulden and was glad to leave!! Bad area for crime, all 4 of my tyres were slashed by a kid who admitted he had nothing better to do!! There's nothing for kids to do, hoons and gangs running havoc in the streets, along with kids chroming. Avoid it at all costs!! If it's absolutely necessary, then get yourself two very big dogs with a vicious bark, 6 foot fences, security screens, and any other security measure you can think of! When I was a kid, a man was murdered on our school grounds and left for school children to find on their way to school. Not a place you want to bring up your kids!
Cons
  • Goverment Housing pockets
  • Crime
  • Hoons
  • Vagrancy

"Mature youngies living in our own Moulden home"

My partner and I bought our very first house in Moulden, three months ago. We know all our neighbours and they are all polite and wave/have a chat with you when you're leaving for work in the morning or arriving home from work. Our yard is BIG so there is plenty of room for our children to play unlike in other suburbs with no backyards - children need the opportunity to learn in a natural environment. Our yard is clean, pest feed, rubbish free etc. We are happy to live in Moulden and feel safe going to bed at night as we are surrounded by lovely people. NOTHING has been stolen from our yard and we are not worried about this occuring. Some areas of Moulden are bad, but you get that in every suburb!

"Insurance premium free suburb,"

Insurance companies don't charge you annual premium, cause all the criminals live there, and they don't steal from their own backyard/suburb. Ah, the seranity of sirens doof doof music, one stop drug shops. Why would u want to live anywhere else? It's the base for our indigenous cousins to visit from their communities where it's no alcohol over there. They're creative too; making letter boxes out of VB cans using cask wine bladders as pillows once emptied and refilled with your tap water. Not to mention the free cultural music show of corroborrees in the parks till early hours of the morning.

  • Hard to sell properties
  • No capital growth

"Small Suburb, high rate of Vagrancy"

Moulden looks like it was once a good suburb, but has fallen a long way with pockets of housing comission families and the rest of the houses generally being low income families. For Northern Territory rent, Moulden can be cheap, but keep in mind that it is cheap for a reason, and the houses have full security fencing for a reason.

"Moulden is what you make it!"

As with other suburbs in Australia you can not pick your neighbours, but you dont have to. Most blocks in Moulden are large, and have great potential for the family person, as you have the room to entertain at home. Build a fence and grow some trees and you are in your own little paradise. All facilities are here such as schools, a brand new tennis court adjacent to a swimming centre, and very close to shops such as Woolies, Target and Coles. For those renovating Bunnings is not far either.

So many parks and recreational places, many areas to walk the dog and cycle, and as an investment Moulden will be a place to for the future, due to its location.

"Moulden - a great place to live if nothing else is available"

There might be nice areas in Moulden, but I don't live in one. In three months, two units in my block have been broken into. My car has been broken into. Personal property has been stolen. Drug paraphenalia (including a syringe) has been found in my backyard. At night, you fall asleep to the soothing sounds of screaming neighbours. The public transport might be reliable, but I wouldn't know because I wouldn't ever catch it for fear of being stabbed for the $20 in my wallet. There are no shops within walking distance (not that I'd feel safe there anyway) and there is nowhere to eat out. Moulden also does not have ADSL2 broadband access, but looking at my list that is definitely the smallest of my concerns about the area. The best thing about Moulden is that it is within walking distance from Palmerston, perfect for carrying cartons of VB back to community housing blocks. If you intend to live here, make sure you inspect your property first and check for signs in adjacent yards that say "no alcohol", because you can guarantee there'll be plenty of it... and the empty beer bottles will be thrown into your yard, where the broken glass will create a challenging and stimulating playground for your pets and small children. I would not recommend Moulden for anyone earning more than $200 per week, because if you own anything of value, it will be stolen.

"Unknown Paradise"

There are more parks an reserves in Moulden than any suburb in Darwin or Palmerston. Some people see Moulden in the negative due to some public housing pockets. If you live here you know you can walk you dog and ride your bike in peace and tranquillity not like in overcrowded busy places. There is also an attitude of live and let live without covenants and peer pressure. This results in a mansion next to a very basic house,a garden paradise next to a scorched earth garden.Everyone is happy with this as it is not like a gated community where everyone is in the army or has something to prove. This is why you hear idiots say I could never live in Moulden,Aborigines live there!I love the place.

"Love living In Moulden, Xavier Pinq Que Court"

We moved to Moulden about 16 months ago and its been the best move we have ever made, we know all our neighbours who all will either wave or stop for a chat , even have a neighbour who watched our dogs whilst we recently went on holiday, most houses in our street are privately owned, its quiet and we feel safe and most importantly our kids feel safe living here.
