Have you heard about the 'new West End' on the Sunshine Coast ? Great local business culture, friendly personal service, yes- they remember your name, new restaurants, BARS, galleries, shopping on QUEEN Street for individual stuff- not franchise after franchise shops, weekly market in the town square, great parks and walk ways plus so much more !

"I love this town"

My husband, myself and my young son have lived here for 3 months now and we love it. We are from overseas (myself UK and my husband Candian). After living in Redland Bay for 6 months we came up here as house prices were too expensive in Brisbane. We bought a great house, a short walk to town, schools and the train station for a great price. Nambour is one of the cheapest towns on the Sunshine coast, yet it is only a short drive to some of the best beaches in the world. Apparently it used to have a reputation but since living here i am yet to see to that. Its a safe town and everybody is very friendly. Like i said i have only been here 3 months, yet i have met all my neighbours and i am often chatting to people in the street or around town. Yesterday i came home to find some home grown veg left on my door step, presumably one of my neighbours. I have never lived anywhere as friendly as Nambour. Admittedly there are a few odd people hanging around central plaza, but you will find that at any mall, anywhere in Australia. Thats just where the like to congregate. But i have never seen any trouble and the streets are quiet.
Nambour is a great location as we are surrounded by great countryside and just a short drive to some stunning beaches and hinterland towns. We have a train that takes you to Brisbane or north to Noosa. The airport is only 15 min drive away which is fantastic and my husband takes regular trips to Sydney for work ad its great for visitors flying in and out. There is plenty to see and do in this area. Plenty of playgroups and mums groups. The library and swimming pool are very good. We have everything we need and want here in Nambour and i feel very fortunate to be able to live in this part of the world. There are some really nice Queenslander style homes throughout the town and fruit farms on the outskirts. The council are planning to bring back the old tram and have a route between the central plaza and the new shopping centre that is currently under construction. There are lots of new developments planned for Nambour and i am looking forward to seeing them unfold. I have never lived anywhere so friendly and welcoming. We are here to stay.

"Love the Moonlight Markets"

Nambour has been undergoing some redevelopment to revitalise the township and cultivate a new image.

The Moonlight Markets held in the revamped town square, is a great family night out, with entertainment, stalls, and great food.

There are some pockets of nice neighbourhoods, and new housing estates. Nambour has some of the most affordable homes on the Sunshine Coast.

"The Centre of Gravity is Nambour"

As Young Urban Professionals (aka Yuppies) in their early 30s, we moved from the Northern Beaches in Sydney to Nambour because we couldn't afford the Sydney house prices. Why we chose Nambour instead of Noosa/Maroochydore/Mooloolaba/Caloundra? Because it's the centre of gravity in the Sunshine Coast. I like the beach, whilst my other half likes the mountains. Nambour is halfway between. Also, everything we need is within a 5 -30min radius. Hospitals: 1 min drive; Train Station: 2 min drive; Airport: 15 min drive: University: 15 min drive; Mapleton: 10 min drive; Brisbane: 1 hr and 10 mins drive; Maroochydoore/Sunshine Plaza/Beaches: 20 - 25 min drive; Caloundra: 25 min drive; Noosa: 30 min drive; Big Pineapple: 8 min drive. Bli Bli Castle: 12 mins. Montville and Maleny: 30 mins. We're also near some of the Sunshine Coasts best schools like Sunshine Coast Grammar School and Nambour Christian College to name a couple. We're not over run with tourists. Life is great! The temperature is cooler than Brisbane in summer, and warmer than Brisbane in winter. We don't get floods either unlike other parts of the Sunshine Coast. In Nambour, we have lifestyle.

"Nambour, our new home, YES!"

We have just relocated from Adelaide to this great place.
We chose Nambour for its location, clean and green, and all facilities close by.
We walk to the CBD, hospital, train, etc.
If we want the coast, it is 20 mins, if we want trendy hinterland towns, they are 30 mins.
If we want Brisbane it is 70 mins, if we want parks and national parks, it is here.
It has been our best move, already 2 lots of visitors from Adelaide have visited and yes they are jealous.

"Nambour- Sunshine Coast Hinterland Hideaway"

Nambour is located at the foot of the Blackall Range approx 100kms north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast. Nambour is a residential area which attracts tourists travelling to and from Noosa and further afield. The area is a lush green area with views of the valleys and surrounding hills. Nambour has a railway station which services the Sunshine Coast area and as plenty of shopping facilities. Accommodation is also good with styles to suit most budgets. There are plenty of sights to see and the beautiful beaches of the coast are within easy reach. Property prices are a little less expensive here than the cost but still climbing in price. A good place to buy if you want to be near the Sunshine Coast.

"Nambour is a town behind the Sunshine Coast which is struggling to grow."

Nambour grows in fits and starts. It was the first big town on the Sunshine Coast but has been taken over by the growth on the coast itself. Serving the hinterland area Nambour chugs along at its own pace.

The main public hospital and the TAFE are at Nambour and these provide a great deal of employment in the area.

Nambour tends to attract home owners who do not have big dollars to spend. In saying that, there is also a lot of acreage on the western side of Nambour which has attracted a lot of people looking for 'lifestyle' living.

Shopping tends to be focused at the cheaper end of the market and those who are looking for trendy or up market items gravitate towards the coastal shopping centres.

There is quite a lot of rental in Nambour and at quite reasonable prices which is OK if you do not have to travel the 35 min drive across to the coast each day.
