"Feels like a well-established enclosed area, in a good way!"

Oakden is an inner northeastern suburb of metropolitan Adelaide, South Australia. It is situated 15 minutes from the CBD and offers many reasons to why Oakden is such a great place to live.

Neighbours in Oakden are friendly, approachable and warm, always willing to help you out whether it be cleaning your front garden while away on holiday, these people can always be counted as being helpful and friendly. In relation to this, Oakden is an extremely safe area, surrounded by extremely safe areas such as Northgate, Walkley Heights and Lightsview. Hillcrest and Gilles Plains may be a bit dodgy and a bit unsafe, but don't worry! Your safe if you stay in Oakden. You could even take a lovely warm summers' evening stroll after 8:30-9pm and not worry about your own safety! Crime, to be honest, never happens here at all, and you'd never expect or hear crime going on in this area. You mostly hear something good going on or around Oakden.

I love the fact that Oakden is one of the most cleanest and greenest areas in the North/Northeastern areas, with others to also add to the list. The streets are beautifully clean, green, and leafy. It looks amazing all year round!

Oakden is also very peaceful and quiet, neighbours love to keep the area quiet for everyone else. No barking dogs, loud parties or hooligans here!

With amenities, Oakden has everything you need. Shopping options are great, with the Northgate Village Shopping Centre (Northgate) seconds away from literally anywhere in Oakden. A 5-15 minute walk for daily groceries, depending on where you live in Oakden, to the Northgate Village Shopping Centre could also be a great option. Other shopping options include Westfield Tea Tree Plaza at Modbury 10 minutes away, Golden Grove Village at Golden Grove 20 minutes away and Gilles Plains Shopping Centre seconds away, as well as the CBD 15 minutes away. With all the main roads that connect around the area, you could even venture out and find more major shopping centres that lie close proximity to Oakden! Eateries are excellent, with the Lakeside Cafe situated IN Oakden (Sir Ross Smith Boulevard), overlooking the wonderful lake and parklands of Oakden. The cafe is reviewed as great, with the staff very friendly and accomodating, food that's delicious and even dog-friendly. This is within a perfect spot for kids who love running around or looking at the nature wildlife in the lake or around themselves. It is such a nice cafe situated nicely in the Oakden parklands!

In regards to parks and recreation, Oakden has many parks, and the most popular and favourited one on Sir Ross Smith Boulevard, where Lakeside Cafe lies. There are many walking/bike trails, wildlife such as pelicans and ducks, and the beautiful nature! If you have kids, they'll enjoy this, especially of whom love riding their bikes! On Regent Gardens Drive, you have basketball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds, walking trials and even a BBQ area! Other parks with playgrounds are spread out across the area, giving a since of convience for everyone.

Schools in Oakden serve quite well, with St Paul's Collge (Gilles Plains), Hampstead Primary School (Greenacres), Cedar College (Northgate), Blackfriars Priory School (Prospect) and St Gabriel's School (Enfield) to name a few. These are all excellent schools with most providing a quality and mostly caring education for your child. The closest childcare is on Folland Avenue, Northgate (on the left of the Northgate Village Shopping Centre).

Public transport in Oakden is good, with buses frequently coming and going through the main thoroughfare of Oakden, Sir Ross Smith Boulevard, as well as accompanying main roads.

The only cons with Oakden is that parking can be a little tight at times and if many cars are parked in a street, you may need to find another street to park because it can be tight. Some streets are good while others can be quite tight. The last con is that nightlife is not that great in the Oakden area, but a 25-30 minute drive to the metro beaches or a 15 minute drive to the CBD results in Oakden great for having close proximity to nightlife! And you won't even have to worry about your neighbours up to mischief or House getting broken into!

The NBN is not yet available in Oakden, and, unfortunately, won't be available until around roughly January 2019. This is quite disappointing, but lucky, Oakden serves ADSL2+, the unfortunately fastest type of Internet until the NBN arrives.

Overall, what a place to live! Oakden features and boats amazing qualities and amenities, with being a extraordinary safe area, friendly and lovable people, close to great schools, shopping centres, and in close proximity to wherever you desire! The streets are gorgeous with amazing leafy streets and houses! Move to Oakden and fall in love!

"Oakden Is Great! Central To Everything!"

Oakden is a wonderful new suburb. There are courtyard homes to more expensive homes. Oakden has got a great recreational park (the Northgate one is a bit better) where you can go feed the ducks and pelicans at the lake.
Parks, walking trails, everything you need! It is perfect, if you want a quiet lifestyle. The neighbours have a strong great spirit feel.
Oakden is well serviced by public transport. By car into the city is 15mins.

Parking is quite queasy here at times

The best park in Oakden is Regent Gardens Reserve. It has two tennis courts for free use, a well-maintained basketball court, walking trails, and a Rotunda.

The Rotunda is usually filled with lots of friends and familys.
If you are looking for a suburb with everything you need, then this is the best place for you!

"An established area with a good blend of housing"

Oakden is a woderful suburb. It combines affordable courtyard homes with more expensive larger homes. There are a number of well built townhouses in nice locations as well.

Oakden has a number of parks and playgrounds within its boundaries and so is perfect for families. Regent Gardens in the heart of Oakden has large open spaces to let the older kids run around, fly a kite, kick the football or play a game of cricket. While the younger kids can take advantage of the two playgrounds within regent gardens. On top of this, there are two tennis courts available for free use, a full size and well maintained basketball court, an undercover entertaining area, free electric BBQ's, well maintained public toilets, and a rotunda. Regent Gardens are the perfect place for a celebration for groups of all size and is often full of fun and laughter on the weekend with numerous groups all year round

The other park in Oakden is set up as a wetlands area. It is home to a number of different bird species and is a great place for a gentle stroll. The wetlands collecting the storm water from the Oakden area to create this tranquil and beautiful area. There is a playgound within the area, but for families with young children the main reason to visit is to see your children enjoy the local wildlife. Feeding the ducks is a real highlight. On the borders of this wonderful park is the Lakeside Cafe, a great place for a coffee or meal. You can also get duck food here.

The block sizes in Oakden tend to be small and as a result so do the dogs. Oakden is small dog lovers paradise. Although, if you have time a big dog has plenty of room to move in the parks.

Oakden is well serviced by public transport although there are areas that have better transport. It is a short 30 minute bus ride into the city and a 20 minute drive. For the cyclists, depending on how fast you can ride, you could be in the city in 20 minutes along well maintained bike lanes.

The downside, and there is only one, is Sir Ross Smith Boulevad is a through road for a number of people and as a result carries a lot of trafffic. This is one street to watch out for for people with cats and young children. traffic is slowed by the roundabouts and corners on the street but it is still a busy road.

Compared to other places around Adelaide that I have lived, this is a young family's utopia.
