"Well rounded - central to everything, gorgeous rivers/parks"

I have lived in Petrie for 11 years and intend to for may years to come. Surrounded by the north pine dam, lake kurwongbah and the north pine river, there are so many recreational options. Most streets off the main roads are quiet and there is a broad range of housing options from quaint cottages to large modern homes. Development appears to be well managed and has not stripped away the beauty of this suburb. Petrie village offers your convience shopping, post office, news agent, fast food etc and supermarket woolworths. There is also an IGA and other specialty stores in Freches Forest. There are a number of schooling options both in and surrounding Petrie. There are also good linking transport connections to the likes of Grace Lutheran, Genesis, North Pine Christian and st Paul's. Petrie is well connected to major shopping precincts like North Lakes and Strathpine. In fact few suburbs are so well connected. Petrie station is a 24hr maned train station and provides express trips to the city in 35 mins. Traffic congestion has increased since the January floods, but this is a short term problem being addressed by council. Future proposed developments to the railways and the Petrie bypass will when complete take additional traffic away from Petrie in peak times and further enhance this suburb as a great place to live. If you are looking at moving here, come out one weekend and walk around some of the streets, you will quickly see why it is that Petrie residents so love this area.

A great suburb of North Brisbane, out of the rat race, but close to everything.
Soon to be a university town.

"A lovely place to live"

We have lived here for 15 years and plan to for many more. We live in Petrie on Pine estate which is a lovely quiet area surrounded natural bushland. There are lovely areas to walk around such as Sweeney's Reserve and the Lakes which are so peaceful and green. It is close to schools and the train line as well as being only a short drive to Northlakes Westfield or Strathpine Centre. The North Pine Country markets are a couple of minutes drive which are also a nice attraction and somewhere to visit on a Sunday. Once the new university opens at Petrie in 2020 and with the new Moreton Bay Rail link it will only improve the area further.

"Great safe family area"

I have lived in Petrie for the last 12 years. It is a great place to live. My children went to Kurwongbah State school and have thrived academically from their schooling. They now have easy access by bus to Grace Lutheran College. Walking distance to shops, schools, parks, transport. Easy access to highway to Sunshine coast. Lakes and dams nearby. Children feel safe. Trees and nature everywhere. Highly recommend living here.

"Great area for families"

This is a great area for families. I completely understand why those who live in the area love it so much. But, young single girls (and guy) might find the area a little stifling. It is too far from the things that young people need access to. No area can be all things to all people, and I don't mean to be critical, but suburbs shouldn't be rated solely on how they cater to nuclear families. I still give it 4.5 stars.

"A Fantastic Place To Come Home To !"

We moved from an innercity northside suburb to Petrie about 5 years ago. To get away from the noise and neighbours living in our pockets with no privacy.
Aside from scoring a beautiful house. The first thing we noticed was the peace and quiet, the most friendly, helpful neighbours and the fact that the children play in the street (great place to bring up kids). We have the most beautiful reserve to walk or bike in with natural lakes (not those manmade ones !) and a river right at our doorstep. The wildlife is astounding.
If you want nightlife go to town, but there are some lovely restaurants close by.
Beautiful drives like samford, dayboro and Mt mee are not far away and close to the sunshine coast.

I never want to leave Petrie !!

"Family Haven"

I've lived in Petrie for approx 9 years now and I'd have to say this place is the best place I've ever lived. I've lived around various parts of Brisbane since moving from the country, until finally settling here in Petrie. Having grown up in the country and moving to Brisbane when i was 17, Petrie is the place where I've finally felt, I can warm upto and really call home. Having 3 kids now and one more on the way, Petrie has been a great place to bring up children, and I have no intentions of leaving anytime soon. I recommend Petrie to all. A great place to live and handy to the city when required.

"Great Place to Live, have a family"

We moved into Petrie on Pine about 3 years ago. It’s a beautiful place, quite with no through traffic. Perfect for families with a beautiful nature reserve within walking distance with lots of open space for kids to run around and play. Close access to Petrie station with express trains to the city (25 min) and great Child care facilities on Beeville road. No night life but hey! We don’t care.

"PERFECT PETRIE, GREAT AFFORDABLE FAMILY LIVING"

As a real estate agent with Raine and HorneI find that the people who are moving to Petrie are doing such for the size of the blocks, the layout of the neighbourhood and the proximity to services such as transport, schools, sports and local shopping.

The area is still affordable to first home buyers or those looking to upgrade. The 'high' side of Petrie on Pine is attracting a more up market clientele wishing to take advantage of relatively new homes on large blocks with a relaxed lifestyle.

The surrounding attractions of Old Petrie Town, Lake Kurwongbah and North Pine Dam are an easy drive for family to take in a picnic or bbq.
