We are from Perth and would love to live in Victoria. Best places to live?

We are middle aged couple my Husband drives trucks for a living, and we have one child with a hearing loss. We would like some help on which suburbs are safe and quiet and have a friendly community, close to schools for hearing impairment children, and not too far for my husband to travel to work.

Glen waverley as you can go past mount view primary and glen waverley secondary but you need to have money to move to this suburb, otherwise ringwood as suggested above is a lot cheaper :)

As far as Deaf Schools in nice suburbs I would investigate Brighton Primary School (27), Mount View Primary School in Glen Waverley (155), Methodist Ladies College in Kew (35), Yarra Valley Grammar in Ringwood (192) and St Mary's College for Hearing Impaired Students in Wantirna South(249). I have put the rankings of the suburbs out of a possible 314 after the school name. I hope this is of help.

What sort of budget do you have to spend? It all depends on that. For a hearing impaired child, I'd investigate schooling first then go from there. Where does your husband work?

I can highly recommend Ringwood East as it is lovely and leafy, friendly, safe and secure. Eastwood Primary school in Alexandra Rd has an excellent Deaf facility see the link: http://www.eastwood.vic.edu.au/text/deaf_facility_af6q.htm
With regard to transport it is all available, with easy access to Eastlink you can get anywhere with ease. Shopping is a dream in particular the re-development of Eastland precinct with the much anticipated upcoming opening Costco. I believe Ringwood East would make a perfect location for your family.

For your child, I would contact ‘Taralye’ and seek their advice on schools (Google them for more info). They are a childcare centre (with so much more) who work with deaf children and so would be able to tell you where their children go as well as hook you up with other contacts.

About 20mins down the road from Taralye is Bayswater – a suburb well known for its industrial sector. Depending on Taralye’s advice, I would be looking for a suburb somewhere between the school and Bayswater. Hope that helps…
