"Good place except for the rental market"

For a small town, it has a coles, woolworths country target and a reject shop. Maccas, Subway and dominos are the popular takeaways along with a couple of pubs and two clubs. I would have rated it good if it wasn't for the rental market. Notoriously inflated and the cheaper houses you find are really old. There is two private schools and a public school which is actually great for a family along with a medical practice, small hospital and a nursing home not too far from each other. Forgot to add that the rental market is quite competitive and you don't have a lot of options and the rentals are much cheaper at muswellbrook or aberdeen. Climate wise it gets really hot in summer but the cold is still manageable despite being close to the barrington tops. The new bypass has made a huge difference with traffic and you can always find a parking spot in town. There is a meat factory where probably where half of the town works and the rest into farming and mining. Must places to visit are the scone mountain , the barrington tops and washpools. There is a significant older population in the area but also young families are moving in into the newer suburbs. The place is ethnically diverse as there is plenty of people working at the meat factory and the healthcare sector. Havent' met anyone rude so far. The place is safe and neither me or anyone I knew had ever experienced break ins or robbery. Finding a G.P will be the hardest part as there is only few doctors who resides in scone and most of them have a long waiting list. There is always an oncall doctor available from monday to saturday afternoon which is really useful for urgent medical needs. Plenty of studs and farms for those who are interested. For anyone who is travelling in the hunter new england highway, it is worth doing a quick drive around town. For some reason, there is plenty of houses for sale but very few available for rent.

"Quiet small Town"

I lived in Scone about 4 years. I'm still working here. There is quiet and small town. There are 2 supermarkets Coles and Woolies. You can buy something in the shops, Target, reject shops and clothes shop. Some cafes are good. Many retire people and family live here. Most of them were friendly. The water is clean. Job is limited here.

"TURN AROUND, NOW!"

this place is a disaster. the people are rude & they gossip in such terrible ways. you will be told things about your character that are not true, if you do not fit their mould of 'whatever it takes, at anyone's expense'. this is not how to live life.
for me this place has been like living on another planet, in another universe. to try and understand where these people could possibly becoming from, is not possible. there is alot of denial & blame.
this is not homely or 7/10, this is wrong & you need to turn back now.

my score of 1 star is only because i couldnt make it 1/2 a star. its still poor though. dont do it to yourself.

"Horse Capital of Australia"

Gorgeous rural town, with great cafes, terrific style and the first "real" rural town out of Sydney.

"Scone- Interesting scenery"

Known as the Horseracing capital of Australia with over 70 horse studs, Scone is located 255 kms North West of Sydney. Scone has some good historical buildings to see as well as the Scone Museum. Visit the Australian Stock Horse Museum and wonder through the arts and crafts shop. Don’t forget to visit the information centre and winery. In the area is the World heritage Listed Barrington Top and 15 Kms away is Lake Glenbawn where you can see the Museum of Natural Life, go for a bushwalk or have a picnic or BBQ at the facilities provided. Scone has good accommodation facilities and ample shopping.
