"Quiet, peaceful, green and a great place to live"

Sherwood is named after an original property in the area, thought to be named after Sherwood Forest in England. The true centre piece of Sherwood is the Arboretum which was established in 1924 and has over 16 hectares of parklands, BBQ’s, 2 playgrounds and a rainforest walk along the river. The Arboretum is listed as a state heritage site due to the broad range of tree species.

Settlement of the area dates from the 1850s with gradual growth taking place in the late 1800s and early 1900s, when dairy farming was established.

Over the last 10 years, the area has seen substantial growth in property values. With median house prices jumping 208% over that time span growing from $345,000 in 2002 up to $720,000 today.

Sherwood has an established business district which includes a Woolworths and many thriving small businesses located near the train line on Sherwood Rd. This area is a high density area with many unit and townhouse complexes located on Sherwood Rd and Primrose St giving many young couples and families a chance to move into the area with entry level pricing starting as low as $275,000. The suburb is also home to some of the areas most expensive houses, with house prices reaching as high as $3,500,000.

My Tip:

- Book a BBQ area at the Sherwood Aboretum. There is plenty of room for the kids to play, whether it be on the playground or a game of soccer or cricket.
- Head to the Rocklea markets on Sherwood Rd for the freshest food available in Brisbane. This is always a fun way to kick start a Saturday morning.

"A great little community"

A child friendly area where you can walk to most places, including transport. Close to the river, cinemas, cafes, schools and shops, yet with lovely little parks tucked away; little treasures you can find if you hunt around a bit. What more could you want from a suburb so close to the city?

"Why would you live anywhere else?!"

We have now owned & lived in two homes in Graceville...and hate the thought of living anywhere else. We've lived here as singles, a couple with no kids...and recently, as a young family.
It has SO much going for it. Not only is it great for resale value, it's close to everything - city, shopping, recreation, entertainment, transport, the river. It has a great sense of community about it, with excellent schools & general facilities. Our neighbours in both Graceville locations have been really friendly - and everyone seems to know everyone (in a good way).

It's the kind of place we not only want to live in...but would like to invest in also.

Once you try it, you'll never look back...

"Great for Families - Safe and Friendly"

Part of the Corinda to Chelmer corridor on the banks of the Brisbane River in Brisbane's West, Sherwood is a fantastic place to bring up a growing family. High quality schools, shopping and facilities are all close at hand along with rail and bus transport. Boasting the Sherwood Forrest Park a magnificant park set on the Brisbane river, Sherwood is a safe area with a 'village' atmosphere.

"A village atmosphere in the big city!"

Graceville is a wonderful suburb with a great village atmosphere and feel. The people are friendly, all the shops you need are here – fruit shop, bike shop, bakery, cinema, restaurants, boutiques, the list goes on! If you need more Indooroopilly is just down the road. The choice of schools is exceptional. There aren’t many suburbs with the old world feel and values left in Brisbane and those that have the same feel are far and few. Most streets are tree lined (mature trees), the classic Queenslander architecture and so many well renovated homes on big blocks and space for kids to run around is wonderful! It’s just a wonderful place to start and bring up your family!

"Charm of Yesteryear"

Graceville has the charm of Brisbane past with wide streets, shady trees and gorgeous renovated houses that scream old money. The larger than average backyard is perfect for young families and for older ones, it's only a hop skip and jump to the University of Queensland in St Lucia. Just over the Indooroopily Bridge, the likewise named shopping district has all the mod cons and boutique shops needed. There are some excellent restaurants in the area, as well as cinemas, and recreational opportunities. The community spirit seems high and the prevailing socio-economic demographic is one of either up and comers or the retired ones of yesteryear.
