"Definitely not what it seems"

Many problems in this community. They have a backward old fashioned mentality with lots of extreme christian culture. The police pick and choose who they assist regardless of crimes committed. If complained about; the police send you response letters which do not even match the complaint made and appear to be pro-forma stock standard which just further highlights the lack of response and care in the area for concerns raised. There seems to be more crime in the area than is ever properly noted for the general public to see. Very nosey and unaccepting and judgmental behaviour of many in the community. Schools in the area seem antiquated in their teaching and teachers blaming students rather than looking at their teaching methods and this is across many schools in the area and surrounding communities; Catholic & Government schools. Also be aware some of the local women from a childcare in Springwood like to take it upon themselves and like to follow other women and their children to other suburbs and venues and watch them, make sure you take photos of these people if this happens to you and go right up to them and take a photo of their numberplate and also write it down and then go to the police and report them and feel free to use this advice as evidence that the situation occurs in the area especially if when you catch them stalking you they hurry back to their car as the horrid human beings they are. They are not your friend it is likely they are spying on you to supply information to some lawyer in the area. Unfortunately police didn't appear interested in this disturbing behaviour. Don't enrol your child in the local Catholic school if you are divorced parents as the school picks one parent they like and despite repeated requests to be informed they do not send the required information to you and act belittling on the phone and so you miss out on information about your child and are excluded. Then they will give you a myriad of excuses as to why they cant supply the requested information and they try and go on about how the teachers are always sick or unavailable to supply the requested information for weeks on end as you try and get this. The public schools in the surrounding areas have teachers that are obsessed with trying to make people like them and cant accept when they are disliked and continue to harass some people because they are unliked and they have been mean to your child. I wouldn't give much credit to some teachers and their opinions in the area because it would seem some cant handle their own well-being and others are forced to put up with them and the fact they cant handle themselves and they try and put their inability to handle their personal problems and immaturity on everyone else to support them. The local football club denies parents the right to information regarding their child, doesn't send contracts of enrolment or provide any information, they seem to think they are above the law; despite repeated requests and they constantly ignore any attempts to communicate with them; this is the actions of many people in this community so be aware.

I have two daughters and we live in Katoomba and absolutely love it because it’s fun and interesting and provides a great childhood for children. Both of my children go to school in Springwood and they dread having to go into the town they are constantly being hit on by old men and the people are rude and snobs. I find it is a place for white rich people that are very sexist and treat women and girls with no respect. going there makes me sick and the town it’s self is quite boring with nothing ever going on, so I would say Springwood is one of the worst town I have ever been to.

"City Slicker"

Moving to Springwood from surburbia was an absolute breath of fresh air. Springwood has an old fashioned community feel about it. Situated 15 mins from Penrith it is the first mountains setllement, it has lovely old mountains cottages along with a main street which has lovely old fashion shops with friendly staff. It has the convenience of a railway station in the main street.

As far as the nessessaties go it has banks and supermarkets etc, so there is no need to leave the local community if you dont want to, everything is there !!!

As it is situated in the heart of the World heritage listed national park there are many bush walks with fresh mountain air. The climate is one of the most temperate in the world.
If you need to have a meal or a cold beverage there is a variety of clubs pubs and cafes. One of its best features is its safe old fashion feel, its like stepping back in time to the good old days. As you can see I love it.
