"Stringy Bark Circuit Lakeside Estate"

I moved to Lakeside from the Dandenong Ranges two and half years ago. I was looking to downsize to a small manageable block and a modern house.
I chose my cottage style home in Lakeside having fallen in love with it at the first inspection.

I thought long and hard about the move having lived in the hills my entire life and I have not had any regrets. Everything is so convenient, the shops are close, the train station readily accessible and walking around the lake is always a pleasure. Fountain Gate is only a quick 15 minutes away. And the bus is handy if I choose not to drive.

I use the nearby dog park which is well set out with walking paths to let my collie run and have got to know the regulars that also let their dogs run free every day. My two-year old grandson visits regularly and there are so many play areas nearby, he never gets bored and he absolutely loves to go the lake and feed the ducks on his trike.

I have joined the book club at the Outlook Community Centre and look forward to a new book each month and sharing our thoughts on what we have read. I also volunteer at Living and Learning in Pakenham. Both are wonderful resources for the community.

I have found the people in Pakenham friendly and helpful. I joined local websites and keep up to date with what is happening in the area. There is even a community garden at Living and Learning and a fresh produce market there on Thursday mornings.

There are many places to meet family and friends for coffee or lunch, current favourites are the Cultural Centre on the lake and the recently opened café at Robert Gordon Pottery. The Cultural Centre is another great resource with live shows running consistently throughout the year.
I have only been twice but there seems to be something for everyone. Great acts in a really comfortable theatre and the biggest bonus is that I can walk there.

I am very comfortable here and find it convenient that everything you could want is so close without the congestion and busyness of suburbs closer to Melbourne. But if you do want to go into town the freeway takes you straight there or you can take the train. I usually prefer to go in the other direction where within minutes you are in the beautiful East Gippsland countryside. There is still so much to explore.
