As an agent, I am exposed to an array of different trends and ideas from both home owners and home searchers. The interesting thing I find is that when anyone looks to buy a home, you hear about what they will do first to make the home 'theirs' - in the discussions I've overheard about interior design, classic and elegant is the main desire. There has been a movement away from lots of objects to downsizing and living minimally, with house prices increasing, people are looking at smaller places to make their own, therefore they need to maximise their space. This means automation- digital controls that can control the house, stacked washers and driers, and even outsourcing some services to keep clutter out. For some people it's cheaper to outsource laundry and even have a small kitchen that is more for day to day living rather than entertaining. Also, shared areas for entertaining either a patio or local hangouts are now more desired than old school dining parties.... they are too boring and people just don't have the space.

I think an incorporation of old school, traditional items will make a return. I think this talk of modern may be outdone by more traditional items.

Blossoming Prints
I think this year will be all about floral prints and colours, it will be about having a colourful feel at home.
