"Simply the best town on the Surf Coast ! ( along with Jan Juc )"

Moved here 4 years ago and love it ! Great people, close to Geelong and Melb ( especially the footy ! ) and some of the best beaches in Victoria. Gets a bit busy in Jan though otherwise fantastic. Land and houses are affordable and capital growth still on !

"I am over it"

Used to be agreat place, but the developers have moved in and lots of ugly concrete boxes appearing.
The water is much too cold to swim without a wetsuit.

If you think it's an alternative to Nth NSW or QLD then you are mistaken.

Lots of bad mouthed types with new money especially footballers.

Sold out so I am glad to get out.

Off to Nth NSw for us..sick of cold water

bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Yes I agree about the idiots in Torquay with new money!! Purchased a block with a lovely aspect a few years back with the idea of building a holiday home on it. Well, bugger me, the first time I met my neighbour I had to restrain myself from punching him in the head because he was so rude to my wife and I! I understand that he is a cashed up builder transplanted from the Western suburbs. I purchased in this area thinking I would have well mannered yuppies living next door if I ever built a home there! I grew up in a rough area but even the crims had better manners than this goose with the most expensive house in the street. If I ever move to Torquay from my home in WA, I hope this joker has learned some manners... or at least dental insurance!

"Relaxed coastal living on the Great Ocean Road"

Torquay is a beautiful spot. Situated at the start of the famous Great Ocean Road, Torquay is just 100 kilometres from Melbourne but feels like it could be 1,000 miles away.

The town is known for its famous surfing beach "Bells Beach", which has played a major part in shaping the town's relaxed culture. This beach attracts surfers from around the country and around the globe, as well as a number of surf festivals and music events.

The town has a population of nearly 7,000 and has been growing rapidly. The town offers a number of facilities, including many schools. Huge subdivisions are being built in certain areas, such as the new developments at Ocean View, but there has been quite a lot of public opposition to this.

The only real downside here is the weather - it can often be quite wild, rugged and cold.

"Surf and much much more"

Tired of city living and want to live it up in a surfers paradise? Torquay could be for you. Home to bells Beach and a great surfing competition Torquay has a lot more to offer than just a great beach.
It is a great town not too far from Melbourne with one of the best 'feels' you are likely to experience anywhere.
Shops, there are plenty, especially if you're looking to upgrade the surfing gear, but also for everything else you could need.
restaurants and cafe's abound allowing you to grab a relaxed bite to eat without having to venture far.
For families there are some good schools and more importantly parks and playgrounds where the kids can have a great time.

"A surfer's paradise"

If you are a surfer, you will have no doubt heard of Bells Beach. Torquay hosts the world's longest running professional surfing event each Easter and is a perfect shopping spot. It is home to some of Australia's most well known surfing brands, many of which have outlets where people can grab a bargain. There is also a great selection of cafes where locals relax and take in the sea air and plenty of reserves to enjoy a picnic. A large playground is a favourite with youngsters. If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, Torquay could be just what you're looking for.
